The Interventional Cardiology Therapies Operating Unit brings together Medtronic’s most advanced minimally invasive and structural heart innovations to transform the way cardiovascular disease is treated. Our teams collaborate across engineering, clinical, and commercial functions to design and deliver catheter‑based and device therapies that help restore blood flow, protect heart function, and improve quality of life for patients around the world.
Position Overview
The Sr Principal Implant Procedure Engineer will lead the development of novel implant procedures associated with new products and therapies for advancement of technology and clinical acceptance. This position will be part of development and/or core teams with the responsibility of implementing strategic goals and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results with novel implant procedures associated with the products. You will work with other functions within the team; but will have leadership responsibility for all plans, reports, data collection, or other means necessary to gain the knowledge required to create and document the associated implant procedure. This position will have direct involvement in internal and external research studies and serve as a member of product development teams, leading aspects of projects related to procedure knowledge, product development and assistance with down-selecting prototypes.
The role will be based in Mounds View, MN and requires on-site presence 4 days/week. Domestic and international travel anticipated up to 25%.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the direction and strategy of all phases of new implant procedure development from market definition to market release and determining the most appropriate skill transfer requirements and development of simulation models for new procedures.
- Defines the procedure related skills necessary for implant success by working side by side with implanting physicians, consultants and other users to understand the critical aspects required for the product design and implant procedure. Influence product design through voice of customer and lab sessions.
- As a member of the Core Team, this role will interact with Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, Marketing, Education, Medtronic Field employees, Customers, and Suppliers throughout the implant procedure development cycle to ensure procedure related readiness, regulatory submission support to achieve market release.
- As implant Subject Matter Expert, assists in the procedural knowledge transfer of new implant procedures to the appropriate geographical audiences that includes: Customers, Medtronic Field Teams, Marketing and Education organizations prior to market release.
- Support implant procedure training programs and clinical implant procedures during the phases of clinical research to market launch.
