Sr. Project Manager – Supplier Quality – Indianola, PA 

PURPOSE

The Sr. Project Manager - Supplier Quality is responsible for the qualification and quality oversight of critical suppliers.  The position provides leadership, guidance, and ownership to evaluate suppliers' technical capabilities including performance of audits and supplier corrective actions while working in partnership with internal customers to assure a continuous supply of qualified materials for distribution.  This position will work with external partners when introducing new products or processes, making changes, or issuing supplier corrective actions to ensure program success and operations quality controls are maintained. This position will be responsible for visiting assigned suppliers, as needed, to ensure quality oversight and all regulatory requirements are met. This position works closely with the External Supplier Management and Supply Chain to pro-actively identify any issues.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are:

  • Leverage broad engineering knowledge to assess new suppliers, identify process improvements and lead supplier process qualifications of our critical suppliers;
  • Support development of appropriate processes and oversight to assure consistent product quality from our external manufacturing partners;
  • Ensure supplier and material qualifications occur according to program timelines; 
  • Manage significant risks to technical and project success;
  • Manage significant number and diversity of internal stakeholders;
  • Guide suppliers process validation approaches for the qualification of finished sterile medical devices;
  • Utilize statistical analyses to reduce risk and enable success of projects;
  • Become a trusted partner working with cross functional, internal stakeholders to lead project initiatives within Supplier Quality functional scope;
  • Communicate technical matters in a manner that effectively conveys messages to diverse audiences;
  • Build and manage work plans in order to meet objectives and deliver on needed deadlines;
  • Create, assign, and track project objectives with the supplier and then aligns with the Bayer project teams on supplier's progress;
  • Provide mentoring and training to suppliers to foster continuous improvement;
  • Perform ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 QMS audits at suppliers as a lead or co-auditor;
  • Guide suppliers on proper 8D corrective action responses.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science;
  • Multiple years using relevant quality, supplier management or medical device manufacturing knowledge across a breadth of technical disciplines;
  • Technical leadership experience, which can include but not limited to, leading process improvements, performing audits, and 8D corrective actions;
  • Driven individual who seeks to identify and implement improvements in processes to improve the quality of our products for our patients;
  • Collaborative and team-oriented contributor;
  • Ability to influence others and effectively communicate messages to gain alignment across various stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree;
  • 10 or more years using relevant quality, supplier management or medical device manufacturing knowledge across a breadth of technical disciplines;
