We are looking to hire a Materials and Process Engineer  at our Sutton, MA facility.

 

The  Materials and Process engineer will report to the Head of Process and this position will support the Long Rolling Operations in the following areas:

  • Review of Process Guarantees related to metallurgical properties.
  • Standards and testing methods.
  • Emerging technologies and integration with subject matter experts.(in Material Science).
  • Data collection from past and potentially new customers.

 

As part of this group, you will be both working independently, and with-in a group environment. Your responsibilities will include the collection and review of data from new and past equipment installations, specifically regarding metallurgical process and process control.  Equipment is defined as the Long Rolling sector under Primetals

 

Responsibilites:

  • Lead, manage, guide, and coordinate metallurgical and process engineering data reporting and projects.
  • Support metallurgical and process staff to ensure work quality.
  • Develop and coordinate initiatives for continuous improvement (metallurgical performance).
  • Regularly review metallurgical data to report on metallurgical performance from existing and potential new customers.
  • Provide technical process and systems support to improve plant performance and standardize work to achieve desired results.
  • Review, analyze, troubleshoot, customer quality standards and work process and recommend modification and/or new equipment as needed.
  • Act in a mentoring capacity to entry-level engineers and interns.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Metallurgical, Chemical or Process)
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environment in the quality/metallurgical or material science
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Project, Visio, Excel, Outlook, Word),
  • Prefer experience with data historians.
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Understanding of environmental and safety standards, regulations, and practices
  • Ability to work well within a multifunctional team (MFT) / integrated product team (IPT) environment.
  • Experience with metallurgical fundamentals such as heat treating, Iron/Steel-Carbon phase diagram, casting and rolling.
  • Experience with Failure analysis; and mechanical testing methods is preferred
  • Ability /desire to travel nationally and internationally.
