Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Plan, conduct, and provide written reports and recommendations on product evaluations of new products, product changes, new suppliers, and manufacturing process or location changes. Work closely with Quality Assurance Technicians to provide technical support to the shop floor operations. Provide supervision and training of Quality Assurance Technicians. Coordinate improvement efforts with various departments within the Company.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with operational, functional, and performance phases of tests for products produced by or built for Larson Manufacturing
- Perform mechanical functioning, performance, environmental, reliability and product safety tests on products.
- Develop or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests and interpret results on mechanical products and systems.
- Direct daily activities of the quality technicians. Provide technical support to the shop floor operations. Responsible for releasing product to Larson Manufacturing customers. Maintain existing and support new quality plans for all manufacturing processes. Supervise the quality technicians as they respond to, investigate, and provide solutions to issues in the following areas.
- Raw Materials
- Vendor contacts – corrective actions / process improvements / troubleshooting
- Shop Floor Operations (product & process related)
- Inspections / corrective action program / quality plans / process checks / troubleshooting / training / continuous improvement activities / new products or processes / product or process changes
- Field Feedback
- Responding to feedback / putting long term solutions in place to prevent customer complaints
- Raw Materials
- Respond to field performance related issues
- Work with all departments and/or suppliers to determine the cause of a customer complaint.
- Examine defective parts to determine cause of defect and recommends changes or modifications.
- Initiate the corrective action plan.
- Report on the status of corrective action plans for identified issues.
- Be involved in new product start-ups.
- Assist in identifying and eliminating potential failure modes for new products.
- Participate in design reviews to help identify potential product improvements before the design is released for tooling development and production.
- Assist in assessing manufacturing readiness to produce new product through capability and process repeatability studies.
- Assist in identifying and eliminating potential failure modes for new products.

- Assist in identifying and eliminating potential failure modes for the proposed product change.
- Assist in assessing manufacturing readiness to produce new product through capability and process repeatability studies.
- Assist in the development, communication and education of the quality specifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:
- High School graduate with preferred college and/or work experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to motivate their team to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to solve conflicts among coworkers.
- Ability to remain organized.
- Thorough understanding of quality procedures and methods.
