Description

Job Summary: Vision House is seeking a passionate and strategic Philanthropy Officer to join our growing team in the mission to end family homelessness. This is a key leadership role on the philanthropy team, responsible for cultivating meaningful relationships with major donors and inspiring generosity to fuel transformational change. The ideal candidate is a compelling storyteller and relationship builder who sees fundraising as a form of ministry - inviting others to partner in God's work of restoring lives.


As a Philanthropy Officer, you’ll help donors experience the joy and purpose of giving by connecting them to the life-changing impact of their support. You’ll manage a portfolio of major donors, shape fundraising strategies, and serve as an ambassador for Vision House in the broader community. Our team is collaborative, driven by faith, and committed to serving families with compassion, excellence, and integrity - until every child has a home.


REPORTS TO:     Director of Philanthropy 

HOURS:              40 hours per week, salary, Monday-Friday based on fundraising and donor needs, some weekend and evenings required

TRAVEL:              24 - 40 hours travel/week around greater Seattle area

LOCATION:        Office is in Renton, WA or Shoreline, WA


Our new Philanthropy Officer will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Starting Pay: $84,000 - $92,000 per year DOE
  • Health insurance coverage: Medical $30-$100/month, Dental $11/month, and Vision $1/month. Separate rates for spouses/dependents.

As a Philanthropy Officer you will:

  • Manage a portfolio of 120+ major donors
  • Maintain regular communications, including in-person meetings with each donor in your portfolio
  • Move donors through the gift cycle, including timely thanking and reporting after each gift. 
  • Develop individual donor strategies to renew and upgrade donor giving and engagement with a focus on stewardship and relationship building. 
  • Manage and update portfolio through documentation, reporting, and accurate, up-to-date database management
  • Identify and develop new donor prospects to increase giving to Vision House
  • Proactively add prospects to the major gifts pipeline
  • Represent Vision House in presentations to community groups, churches, businesses
  • Attend networking and other events to represent Vision House
  • Contribute to the success of our annual events, including planning and coordinating major donor-specific events, assisting with sponsor and table captain recruitment, and setting strategy for engaging donors through events
  • Collaborate with staff to determine funding opportunities and develop in-depth funding proposals 
  • Achieve annual revenue goals and collaborate with team to meet departmental goals
  • Assist in building out major donor program outcomes and set goals to increase year-over-year
  • Building on past successes, help the organization grow the Major gifts program 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy, E.D. and Philanthropy Officers to enhance relationships and create fundraising and outreach strategies and fulfillment including support of Capital Campaigns
  • Assist with securing challenge funds and corporate sponsorships
  • Assist with Board Recruitment
  • Participate in call campaigns as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Adhere to the Vision House Donor’s Bill of Rights
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Philanthropy Officer candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • Personal knowledge or established professional relationships with local, regional, and/or national philanthropic decision-makers
  • Excellent communication skills – articulate, motivating, persuasive, engaging - able to communicate effectively and professionally with executive staff and board members and to build productive relationships with high net-worth donors and major gift prospects
  • Strong presentation skills - able to excite anyone about our mission and provide th
