7pm - 7:30am/ PRN/ 36 Hours
We're seeking a Patient Safety Sitter for Emory Decatur Hospital responsible for being a capable technician who cares about the quality of their work an ensuring the safety for all patients.
This individual will:
- Is assigned to a patient in the hospital setting to maintain a safe environment. Observes and reports any changes in the patient's condition to the nurse accountable for the patient's nursing care.
- Communicates with patient/family members and all members of the health team to relay appropriate information as part of patient care.
- As part of a patient focused service, promotes a supportive and healing environment so that customer and staff satisfaction are enhanced.
- Under the supervision of the patient's nurse, may assist with transportation of the patient throughout the hospital, ambulation of the patient, bedpan/bathroom functions, bathing, bed making, feeding, providing oral fluids to patient and positions for comfort.
- Ensures the neatness and cleanliness of patient's room. Supports cost efficient/effective patient care. Complies with Universal Precaution guidelines and all other infection control procedures and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment.
- May discard disposable supplies, assist with bedrails wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and bedpans, under the supervision of the patient's nurse. Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year healthcare experience or one semester of clinical experience preferred.
- American Heart Associate BLS certification required.
- Completion of department orientation and training within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
