Job Description Summary
The Production Technician will directly support the Schenectady Cores and Castings operations team and work in parallel with quality engineers to develop and execute training programs, drive the adoption of standard work across the factory, and provide technical feedback/coaching to hourly operators. The Production Technician will work closely with the quality team to maximize the effectiveness of work instructions and provide feedback for improvement. The role will also support operations leaders with production management activities. This hands-on role will require the individual to develop deep technical expertise in operation execution and strong motivational/mentoring skills to maximize the effectiveness of established training programs.Job Description
- Develop and implement training plans tailored to specific operators, provide direct feedback and coaching to ensure systemic adoption of standard work.
- Manage, organize, and communicate training performance data for new hire employees during probation period. Recommend/implement adjustments as Instructed.
- Manage onboarding activities/schedule of new hourly employees.
- Partner with quality engineers to manage certification/re-certification of operators on certain product operations. Support/drive daily “Built in Quality” problem solving reviews to maximize cross training effectiveness.
- Perform random audits on hourly operator work (Quality framework program).
- Work with quality team to identify top quality defect drivers and establish training clinics as a countermeasure as needed.
- Update Confluence Training Matrix and Pathway Program status.
- Support Operations Leaders with ad hoc reporting, part flow management, etc.
- Although primarily a first shift assignment, role will require flexibility to manage effectiveness across a three-shift operation.
- Role will require versatility to span all operations from cores manufacturing to wax/cast, and post cast operations. Role will evolve as needed to support operational need.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Demonstrate technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Ability to work 1st Shift (7am-3pm)
- Associates Degree and 4 or more years’ experience in manufacturing, or a high school diploma /GED with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of relevant Excel/Word packages and familiarity with Electronic Management Systems.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and create written technical information (i.e. Work instructions, dimensional tolerances, and standard operating procedures).
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.

Pay Transparency
The base pay for this position is J12: $1612.76 weekly. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
