Job Description

This position is responsible for the daily support and execution of the IT asset management process, specifically where it concerns the software asset and license management.  The Software Asset Manager provides guidance for the daily and long-term strategy for managing the laboratory’s software assets, while ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, Federal regulations and asset management best practices.  This position liaises with groups across the IT organization to establish standards and ensure that maximum value and performance is being realized from the laboratory’s software assets.  The Software Asset Manager also facilitates communication across the laboratory to determine the needs of the enterprise and negotiate the best means to fulfill those requirements.

Basic Qualifications

Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant PhD or equivalent relevant education/experience. Complete understanding and wide application of principles, concepts and techniques in specific field. General knowledge of related IS disciplines. Strong leadership and project management skills. Skilled in analytical techniques, practices and problem solving. Advanced programming, design and analysis abilities with various computer software programs and information systems.

Additional Required Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of IT software and hardware as well as five or more years experience working as an IT asset manager
• Detailed knowledge of, and experience managing several software licensing models
• Experienced negotiator
• Strong customer service skills and commitment to customer service and support
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
