Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for the monthly general ledger close process including completing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations including all cash accounts, student accounts receivable and other complex account reconciliations as required. This position will be responsible for assisting with monthly payroll processing as needed. This position will have oversight over the Staff Accountant and Senior Accountant, General.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for oversight of Staff Accountant and Senior Accountant, General
- Perform monthly close and account reconciliations as assigned
- Prepare year-end closing and audit entries as assigned
- Review and approve monthly journal entries and account reconciliations completed by Staff Accountant and Senior Accountant, General
- Responsible for oversight in monthly payroll processing, benefit accounting and reconciliations. Also serve as backup for payroll processing and liaison between Robert Morris University and local payroll taxing authorities. Provides additional review of manual changes made to employee records
- Perform annual W2 reconciliation and file submission
- Assist with annual audit preparation and footnote preparation for multiple audit filing requirements.
- Assist with monthly budgeting and forecasting tasks as needed
- Troubleshoot issues that may arise through all areas of responsibility.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
- 6-8 years of relevant general ledger and payroll experience in an accounting department preferred
- In-depth understanding of accounting concepts/procedures financial statement review and
- analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliation analysis
- In-depth understanding of payroll concepts
- Comprehensive understanding of financial impact within an organization’s business operations
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work.
- High initiative, self-starter, and team-oriented focus.
- Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with heavy emphasis on Excel.
