ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance functions on all equipment and facilities in the plant.  Maintenance functions include repair, welding, preventative maintenance inspection, and installation of equipment.  Good mechanical aptitude is required for the position. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES


•    Insures Safety on the Job, Following safety policies and procedures for plant and job specifics.
•    Responsible for entire mechanical maintenance activities.
•    Responsible for daily/weekly (PM) inspections on specified area in the plant.
•    Provide feedback and documents on work orders, information found on daily/weekly (PM) inspections. 
•    Carries out all mechanical equipment repairs, according to work order requests - insuring quality workmanship.
•    Ability to manufacture and prepare spare parts according to work order requests – insuring quality workmanship.
•    Documents on work orders, all information regarding repairs carried out and tools needed (equipment history).
•    Provides detailed information on a weekly basis to Planner for equipment repairs or improvements.
•    Knowledge of Plant operations

     o    Safety lockout procedure
     o    Equipment interlocks
     o    Process and material flow
     o    HAC numbering system
     o    Function of major equipment
•    Demonstrate basic troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
•    Understands hand tool usage and safety.
•    Demonstrates leadership and self-motivation. Operate forklift, manlift, light crane, drill press, cut-off saw, pipe threader, hydraulic press, iron             worker, and various hand tools.
•    General layout, welding and cutting skills with ability to work from blueprints, sketches, or detailed instructions.
•    General rigging knowledge.
•    Repair equipment such as fans, screw conveyors, belt conveyors, reducers, bucket elevators, dust collectors, rotary feeders, vertical roller mills,       ball mills, and other material handling equipment.
•    Have a basic understanding of hydraulics and be able to read schematics.
•    Operate independent of Supervisors.
•    Respond to call-outs during non-work hours as needed. Stay over if needed.
•    General knowledge of installation and care of bearings (roller, ball, and sleeve oil).
•    Coupling alignment knowledge.
•    Ability to create notifications and work orders in the SAP system.
•    Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES


Required Education: high school diploma or equivalent; completion of trade school or training program preferred.
 
Additional Requirements: 


•    Experience in industrial maintenance.
•    Knowledge of the cement manufacturing process and equipment a plus.
•    Basic computer skills.
•    Strong work standards and attendance record.
•    Good trouble shooting skills
