Who will you be working with?
Wabtec is a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions, and value-added services. Our team is focused on continually improving our best-in-class production capabilities. Here you’ll interact daily with team members during the problem resolution process and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our internal customers and their responsibilities. You will join some of the most talented and passionate professionals in the locomotive and off highway mining vehicle industry.
How will you make a difference?
The Manufacturing Engineer works to sustain continual improvement with business processes using lean manufacturing and other improvement techniques. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will collect data, analyze outputs, and provide leadership for action to improve safety, quality, and increase overall effectiveness of business processes. In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, drive process adherence, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and can affect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Do you have:
- Bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in manufacturing
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong oral and written communications skills

- Ability to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
- Ability to multitask across multiple operational initiatives

What will your typical day look like?
- Develops, observes, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods and processes to reduce costs.
- Lead the operational team with a project based continuous improvement mindset, looking for innovative ways to execute production plan
- Manage various cost accounts and projects associated with expense reductions.
- Review and analysis of space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
- Develop and execute process improvement strategies that challenge existing operational paradigms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to redesign workflows and introduce innovative manufacturing techniques
- Ability to shift organizational mindset from traditional to progressive manufacturing approaches
- Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Communicate with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
