The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, and combat system equipment. The team uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon’s CORE principles. Mechanical Engineering capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.
The Radar Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Electronics Packaging Mechanical Engineer. This person will be responsible to lead the mechanical team in the development, design, build and test of electronic modules and assemblies. Key requirements for this position include proven problem solving skills and experience in hardware design and integration, engineering analysis, and requirements alignment. Individuals will interface primarily with other mechanical and electrical engineers, but will often be required to collaborate with operations, supply chain, systems, test engineering, program offices and customers.
This Senior Mechanical Engineer role will be based in Marlborough, MA and is an onsite role.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Strong mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge with ruggedized electronics packaging.
You will be responsible for developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration and test of electronics and power module packaging solutions for phased array radars/electronics for multiple military programs.
Responsible for supervising the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, connector selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, support electrical/RF layout and be responsible for final technical data package.
Familiarity CREO and drawing standards.
Employing transition-to-production practices with the ability to lead a design release into production
Provides technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements
Performing complex tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function are as intended
by design for the use-application.
Work with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment.
Frequent interaction with senior personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
A PhD can account for 5 years of experience as required for this position.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in mechanical design
Experience with electronic or power packaging and hardware design packaging for military or mechanical or commercial applications
Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances)
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
