Role Purpose

In this Intern role, you will improve product, process and/or equipment performance (cost, quality, and service). You will support, lead, and/or co-lead multi-disciplined project teams to assist in meeting project milestones and objectives. You will be involved with continuous improvement efforts on several manufacturing lines. We look to you to provide solutions for increased process yield, increased material utilization, decreased costs, improvement to product quality by planning, organizing and implementing projects, and to lead or assist in work packages as part of project team. You will need to provide regular updates on project status, including design reviews and conduct or contribute to a project critique at completion and share key learning(s).

Key Responsibilities

Meet all Environmental, Safety and Health requirements.
Develop knowledge of injection molding and the associated manufacturing process and equipment.
Assist in day-to-day problem-solving & troubleshooting support to manufacturing operations. Participate in daily production meetings.
Provide general engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge (understands theories and fundamentals) to lead/co-lead continuous improvement projects, cost reduction projects, equipment upgrades, and/or safety upgrades. Apply both analytical concepts and “hands-on” learning.
Apply data analytics skills to monitor line performance and analyze trends. Identify root causes of problems, recommend process improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
Utilize the scientific method to solve problems. Seek fundamental understanding through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
Generate technical documentation for experiments conducted and changes implemented.
Engage cross functionally with engineering, quality and production teams. Interface with operators, technicians, and team leaders to gain a high level of process understanding.
Actively engage in project teams and act with urgency to close assignments.
Provide project updates, tracking progress, and update action plans as changes and challenges occur.
Manage time and resources effectively to meet milestones.
Communicate issues and concerns to stakeholders.
