Description
This position provides operational management, and leadership, to all staff of the HealthNet Dental Clinics, and supervision to non-exempt staff and the Dental Coordinator. The position will perform comprehensive duties requiring self-direction, judgment, knowledge of policies and procedures, knowledge of dental clinic practice and employee supervision. Monitors work on a daily basis and assists assigned personnel as required. Monitors and reviews the professional development of all team members. The manager will be responsible for scheduling all providers and dental staff at multiple HealthNet Dental clinics, ensuring an efficient use of resources to maximize productivity.
HealthNet Dental Financial Management:
- Participates with the Operations Manager, the Dental Director, and Manager of Administrative Services in development of the Annual Budget for the HealthNet Dental Clinics.
- Demonstrates fiscal accountability.
- Monitors and enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of staff productivity and customer satisfaction.
Leadership
- Is accountable for strategic planning, program development and overall operational administration for the HealthNet Dental Staff.
- Works closely with the Operations Manager, the Dental Director and the other co-located clinic managers.
- Apply a minimum of one health literacy method when communicating with patients/clients.
Regulatory Requirements/Procedures
- Functions as liaison to key areas of the organization to coordinate performance assessment and improvement activities and ensure that requirements of regulatory and accrediting bodies are met.
- Assumes leadership role in quality improvement activities in the department. Obtains and reviews outcomes and benchmarking data for opportunities for improvement.
- Acts in accordance with all department and the organization policies, procedures and practices pertaining to safety and security.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable quality and accreditation standards with JCAHO, ISDH, and other federal/state regulations. Supports dental staff functions, committees and activities.
Education/Training
- Develops and conducts departmental education and training programs.
- Responsible for orientation, training, and skills check off of new employees in the dental clinics.
- Manages the training of staff on new policies and procedures.
- Attends continuing education classes to update skills.
- Ascertains the educational needs of staff as related to organizational and HealthNet Dental priorities.
- Develops and designs education programs according to prescribed planning models.
Development
- Participates with HealthNet Senior Management Team and other organizations in developing and implementing appointment scheduling systems and other comprehensive patient care services.
- Develops, plans and implements departmental programs and projects to increase and enhance dental services to HealthNet clients.
- Oversees the evaluation of programs/projects for effectiveness.
Personnel Management
- Effectively manages hourly staff in a manner consistent with organizational policies and values.
- Maintains an employee feedback process to enhance work process to enhance work processes and employee understanding.
- Provides supervision to all Dental Assistants, Dental Interpreters and SRS staff, Hygienist and Dental Coordinator.
- Performs interviews and makes hiring decisions for new staff, does performance feedback and corrective action on assigned employees.
- Develops and implements staffing schedules to ensure equitable support for the dental provider staff.
Integration
- Manages the integration of Dental Department programs/projects with other HealthNet departments or areas.
- Manages activities within the department.
- Acts as liaison between HealthNet Dental and parents/patients concerning clinical operations.
- Maintains open communication with Dental Clinic provider staff.
Operations
- Oversees and approves the ordering of supplies and equipment for Dental Clinics.
- Responsible for operational troubleshooting and streamlining work processes.
Accreditation
- Ensures compliance with all applicable quality and accreditation standards within the assigned areas.
Continuous Improvement
- Collaborates with the Quality Management Department in overseeing information management related to clinical outcomes and work processes.
