The division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Pediatric Cardiology within the Department of Pediatrics is recruiting for a Clinical Research Assistant 2.

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Research Assistant 2 to contribute to impactful clinical, administrative, regulatory, and educational research within the Department of Pediatrics. This role focuses on supporting exciting research in the divisions of Endocrinology and Cardiology, ultimately improving the lives of children with complex health needs.

 

Your Impact:

As a Research Assistant, you will play a critical role in advancing research aimed at improving outcomes for pediatric patients. You will directly contribute to two primary projects that address important health challenges:

  • Cardiology: Join a multi-center international study investigating the effects of sinus node dysfunction and junctional rhythm on outcomes for children who have undergone the Fontan operation. This study, involving approximately 30 centers, aims to shape future care strategies for these vulnerable patients. Your work will help provide valuable insights into this life-saving heart surgery, with support from the Brett Boyer Foundation.
  • Endocrinology: Contribute to research on the incidence of temporary hypothyroidism in infants and children caused by iodinated contrast administration. By analyzing thyroid function and iodine levels, you will help ensure affected children receive timely treatment with thyroid hormone replacement, improving long-term health outcomes.

What You'll Do:

  • Support both clinical and regulatory activities for ongoing pediatric research projects
  • Coordinate data collection, manage patient information, and ensure accurate documentation of research protocols
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement research strategies and promote best practices in patient care
  • Contribute to educational initiatives aimed at advancing knowledge in pediatric endocrinology and cardiology

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in relevant field OR Associate's AND 2 years of relevant experience OR 3 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must be able to work independently with little oversight, be highly detailed oriented with accurate attention to detail and have excellent organizational and management skills. 
  • Must be self-starter and be able to prioritize tasks in fast paced environment.
  • Intermediate and experienced knowledge of Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs. 
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly, and demonstrate a high level of customer service to other members of the health care team both at OHSU and outside entities. 
  • Must be able to appreciate and cultivate a diverse study population. 
  • Experience working with computers, spreadsheets, and databases; experience with Institutional Review Board protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification from an appropriate accredited certifying body (e.g. ACRP or SOCRA).

Additional Details

This will be a short contract for 1 year from date of hire.
