We’re seeking a software engineer focusing on quality and tooling to join Aurora’s Tech Foundations team. The Tech Foundations organization is responsible for foundational software infrastructure and tooling used across Aurora to build the Aurora Driver.

In this role, you will

• Lead our holistic Software quality and testing vision and build supporting tooling required for shipping a “Safety Critical” Software needed in Autonomous Vehicles.
• Work with engineers across engineering at Aurora, including Autonomy, Testing & Validation, Hardware, Firmware, Middleware, Embedded, and Cloud Services.
• Intimate knowledge of all phases of Aurora’s software development and release process and their intersection with software quality.
• Building industry-leading developer experience tools which incentivize best practices and improve the engineer development experience.
• Be at the forefront of technological advances that enhance Aurora’s software development velocity.

 

Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding of all aspects of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• 10+ years of software development experience, strongly prefer C++ and Python
• World Class experience on all aspects of software development tooling and engineering experience
• 10+ years of hands-on test driven development with intimate knowledge of unit, integration, and synthetic testing 
• Experience shipping commercial-grade software to customers
• Proven experience mentoring and leading quality-focused initiatives

Desirable Qualifications

• Understanding of testing methodologies and cloud-based evaluation of software used in Autonomous Vehicles such as simulations.
• Phenomenal verbal and written communication of advanced technical concepts to a wide range 
• Mentorship of engineers on SDLC best practices and deep experience working through implementation challenges when applying software testing methodology across a diverse software engineering organization. 
• Product-focused mindset with experience applying it to internal software development platforms.

 

The base salary range for this position is $210,000.00-$252,000.00 per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
