What You'll Do

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

1. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
2. Monitors conveyors, ensuring all are operating normally (duties may include adjust the tracking on belts)
3. Monitor water flow by clearing small jams in water lines using water/air compressor
4. Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating and measuring wear. 
5. Operate small equipment of various sizes including forklifts, skid steers, etc. on an as needed basis.
6. Provide technical support by (duties include but are not limited to) monitoring various production equipment, making adjustments to feed/discharge rates of various production equipment, troubleshooting issues with production equipment.
7. Conducts frequent and periodic inspections of plant to detect malfunctions, initiates corrective actions, and reporting it to the supervisor.
8. Perform daily scheduled preventative and emergency maintenance on production equipment including greasing, lubricating, cleaning, and measuring.
9. Keep grounds clear of debris while maintaining safety standards.
10. Perform interior and exterior building maintenance, housekeeping chores and ground maintenance, including but not limited to sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment throughout the yard.
11. Effectively communicate over radio with teammates for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures.

What You'll Need

1. Ability to travel to Tampa for temporary training. We will reimburse travel expenses. 
2. Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop outdoor environment while providing excellent customer service.
3. Minimum of 1-year previous general labor in heavy manufacturing environments and warehouses preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
4. Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
5. Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
6. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
