Job Description
Grace is seeking a Maintenance Manager for our Curtis Bay, MD site. This person will lead a team of 11 supervisors and 100 hourly maintenance personnel (mechanics, instrument & electrical, facility support) at the largest North American manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Lead the learning and development of the maintenance employees through career development discussions, performance goals, and feedback discussions
- Manage employee and labor relations
- Responsible for developing new work systems along with improving current systems to achieve plant objectives including improving overall equipment efficiencies and plant reliability
- Manage the day-to-day plant maintenance activities and focus on long-term reliability improvements
- Responsible for creating and reporting on maintenance KPIs
- Assist in root cause analyses and collaborate with the operations teams to support production goals, troubleshoot equipment, and assist with new product and technology implementations
- Lead site-wide maintenance outages
- Play an active role in the safety performance of the plant through daily safety discussions, pre-job hazard assessments, and regulatory compliance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical engineering
- 10+ years of experience in the maintenance field including leadership and management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of process, mechanical, electrical and control systems
- Strong knowledge of safety, health and environmental regulations
- Maintenance management expertise in applying key performance indicators to measure and improve maintenance performance including maintenance planning and scheduling
- Ability to manage multiple projects with varied priorities and drive them to completion
- Knowledge of process control systems, PLC and DCS platforms, pump hydraulics, conveyors, blowers, and seals
- Knowledge of best practices for fixed equipment inspections and preventative/predictive maintenance strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical knowledge of the chemical process industry and general knowledge of Engineering standards and specifications
- Understanding of inventory and procurement processes including MRO inventory and purchasing management
- SAP knowledge in both work order management and purchasing
- Experience supervising in a union environment
- Working knowledge of PSM and ISO programs
