Research Recruitment Intern
Sun River HealthAbout the role
Sun River Health provides the highest quality of comprehensive primary, preventative and behavioral health services to all who see it, regardless of insurance status and ability to pay, especially for the underserved and vulnerable. Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a Research Recruitment Intern.
As part of the federal Precision Medicine Initiative, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is leading the All of Us Research Program, which seeks to speed up health research and medical breakthroughs for current and future generations.
To do this, All of Us is asking one million people to share their health information and samples of blood and urine (all de-identified) to build the largest health database of its kind, one that reflects the rich diversity of the United States. Researchers can then use this data to conduct thousands of studies. By looking for patterns, researchers may learn more about what affects people’s health.
Sun River Health has partnered with NIH to offer patients the opportunity to enroll in All of Us. The Research Recruiter for All of Us bridges the gap between healthcare and research, engaging diverse communities in the program and providing essential education about research science.
The Research Recruitment Intern will actively engage potential participants through a variety of strategies in the health center and the surrounding community. They will demonstrate outstanding customer service in all interactions, maintain confidential participant records, and facilitate informed consents, surveys, and collection of baseline physical measures (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Educate patients and community members about All of Us and essential research concepts
- Provide digital education to patients to support their long-term participation in All of Us
- Engage potential participants in the health center by coordinating with nurses, medical assistants, and providers
- Engage and enroll potential participants in All of Us in community-based settings (e.g., at health fairs, libraries, local events)

- Collect and record data in proprietary program software
- Execute the research protocol in compliance with NIH and Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidelines
