The DC-Program Local Training Specialist’s primary job duties are mandated by the District of Columbia Department on Disability Services in-person Direct Support Professional Training. Total Care Services, In Local Training Specialist’s primary responsibilities are to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of training events for compliance with DC Department on Disability Services. This involves planning and execution of regular in-person training programs as well as assistance in planning and facilitating short, one-time in-person training programs initiated throughout the year. Responsibilities include in-person training facilitation, serving as in-person presenter, staff outreach and logistics, as well as coordinating with department staff on event details. The position also involves the creation of training materials such as case studies, PowerPoint presentations, worksheet handouts, etc. All creations will need the final approval of director and follow out organizational branding guidelines. A successful in-person DC Local Training Specialist demonstrates proficiency in completing the following:

We are Searching for a DC Program Local Training Specialist who is:

  • Independent - Excellent planning, organizational, communications, writing, phone, and interpersonal skills are required. Must live locally and be able to work in-person in our Lanham, MD office 5 days a week.

What You Do:

  • Conduct in-person new hire orientation/re-certification trainings in compliance with requirements of DC Department on Disability Services (DDS)
  • Facilitate and/or coordinates in-person training to meet specialized DDC requirements
  • Attend classes or training and present training to staff
  • Keep Director of Learning and Development updated on status of assigned projects
  • Planning, management and execution of logistics for all training conferences
  • Work with HR department to conduct training, giving special attention to staff needs and superb customer service to staff through all events
  • Tracking of employees with outstanding trainings required for compliance
  • Answer and respond to outside communications, such as phone calls, faxes, emails and web-based inquiries. This includes on-going communications, project-based communications, i.e., from staff
  • Create calendars and work plans for events
  • Create and organize training materials including participant handouts, following organizational branding methodologies
  • Ensure appropriate supplies are on site for all trainings
  • Provide on-site staffing logistics management for most training events
  • Summarize evaluation reports for trainings and providing outcomes to Director of Learning and Development within one week of each training
  • Perform administrative functions for training program and staff, including but not limited to correspondence with staff, data entry, filing, photocopying, scheduling, booking travel, etc.
