Job Description Summary

As a Senior Engineer in the CFD and Methods team within the Aero-Thermal Mechanical Systems organization, you will lead research and development in computational fluid dynamics towards the development of next generation technologies, for turbomachinery and non-tradition turbomachinery products.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of pre- and post-processing technologies for next generation of modeling and simulations.  
  • Carry out project planning and execution, from system-level through detailed design in modeling and simulation.
  • Define requirements and build best practices for pre-and post-processing using proprietary and commercial CFD solvers, analysis systems and databases.
  • Lead the development of high-fidelity computational analyses techniques.
  • Drive engagement with other supporting functions, and/or external suppliers to meet project deliverables.
  • Lead the development of internal and external project proposals and initiatives.
  • Lead the technical execution of project and programs.  Deliver presentations, reports, and publications to engineering staff, GE businesses and external agencies.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert to help resolve technical challenges across the company.
  • Foster a multidisciplinary and inclusive team environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline with a strong background in computational fluid dynamics with a minimum of 7 years of industrial experience, or a master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines with at least 10 years of experience in computational fluid dynamics in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise with computational modeling & geometry, meshing, and using commercial pre- and post-processing packages. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), hi-fidelity LES based approach and high-performance computing.
  • Expertise in software development using scientific programming languages C++, C, Fortran, Python; Code development / maintenance (CL/CD), GitHub.  
  • Expertise with post-processing and visualization of scientific data, including in-situ, visualization, visualization at scale, and large data, management.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop simulation and artificial intelligence workflows.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills in a global team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
