The Technical Training Instructor Support (TSIS) for Mechanical Metalworking and Fabrication is responsible for supporting the development, delivery, and evaluation of training courses in these disciplines for the US Government's personnel. The TSIS will work closely with the training team to ensure that the courses are aligned with the Government's training goals and objectives. The TSIS will also be responsible for providing technical support to the instructors and students.

 

Responsibilities:

• Incorporate US Government operational skills into training curriculum in a manner consistent with the worldwide support provided to operational missions.
• Develop, maintain, and instruct courses for interns, new staff, existing personnel, and those rotating through multiple tours.
• Coordinate training requirements for curriculum and courses.
• Ensure continuity across training experiences (class and field ex) in accordance with adult training principles.
• Develop courses and course documentation (lesson plans, handouts, instructor notes) and design evaluation instruments.
• Maintain knowledge of industry and IC strategic directions and potential impact on contract related act in the area.
• Coordinate with the Government’s prioritization of requirements and provide training plans for review/approval.
• Deliver training with a variety of instruction strategies.
• Classroom setup, supplies, scheduling.
• Provide post-training reports, including information on the effectiveness of the course as presented and modifications needed.
• Safety procedures for working in a machine shop and proper use of safety equipment.
• Read, write and troubleshoot G-code, and generate tool paths from a CAD model using CAM software.
• Use CAD to design parametric models of parts and assemblies that are functional for the Government’s needs that are fully machinable.
• Use and maintain common machine shop equipment (engine lathe, CNC lathe, vertical CNC mills, manual mills, water jet, wire EDM, bench grinder, Sauder/deburr machine, drill press, horizontal/vertical band saws etc.).
• Operate, adjust, and maintain machine shop tools.
• Weld steel and aluminum using TIG, MIG and other welding techs.
• Design and fabricate bent sheet metal parts using CNC or finger brakes.
• Anodizing, powder coating and other protective coatings.
• Mentorship during student exercises.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, metalworking, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in training development and delivery in the mechanical metalworking and fabrication fields.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles.
• This position requires a TS clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph
