BWX Technologies in Mt. Vernon, IN, is looking for a dynamic Front Line Manager (FLM) to supervise the Material Services Team. In addition to developing and guiding material services team members, this position will be essential to ensuring materials are accurately dispersed and inventoried.

 

What we do

Situated on a 100-acre site, our facility has 600,000 square feet of shop area and a 1,000-ton lift capacity from the shop to the river. The Mount Vernon facility is equipped with large CNC machine tools along with sophisticated welding and heat-treating equipment to produce components for naval nuclear reactors, which are used in submarines and aircraft carriers.

 

What you'll do

• Directs the receiving and inspection of all facility consumables and dispersal including vending machines.
• Responsible for inventory control, including consumables in vending machine (stock levels to not fall below minimums). 
• Develops knowledge of approved product used at the facility (technical, how and where used, etc.).
• Supervises the transportation of material incoming and outgoing by all modes of transportation (rail, truck and barge).
• Communicates with all departments to effectively plan for upcoming work to ensure material available when needed.
• Plans for all shipments and deliveries to and from the site. 
• Ensures timely delivery and shipping of interoffice mail.
• Evaluates employee performance, provides coaching and counseling for performance improvement or correction.
• Responsible for development of direct reports. 
• Maintains attendance and time system.
• Demonstrated proficiency with SAP material services module. This includes but is not limited to purchasing, receiving, inventory, material transfer and inventory cost reports.
• Conduct periodic inventory audits for accuracy.
• Develops knowledge of how to effectively execute all warehouse roles and responsibilities.
• Able to drive forklift equipment.

 

What we need from you

• High school equivalency along with a minimum of two (2) years of Front Line Manager experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Front Line Manager experience includes but is not limited to, leading teams; assigning work assignments; evaluating work performed by others; and coaching/mentoring employees.
• Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal communications.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP
• Detail oriented.
• Able to operate forklift equipment.
• Able to lift 50 lbs frequently.
• U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship is required for this position.
