With a significant presence in California, we're looking to welcome a Senior Construction Inspector to join our Los Angeles or Orange office.
The responsibilities and duties for this position will include the following:
- Provides day-to-day oversight, monitoring, and detailed documentation of each stage of construction activities on a variety of projects involving transportation, water and building infrastructure. Interprets plans, specifications, and applicable municipal, state and federal codes and verifies contract work is performed in accordance with all applicable governing regulations and design requirements.
- Monitors construction sites for safety violations. Maintains daily activity logs and reports with photographs, in a manner agreed to by the Client prior to the work. Review progress reports for contractor payments. Prepares reports on labor, material, and equipment on site.
- Conducts assessments in accordance with the Client’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan and Procedures.
- Assists in maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with the safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Provides Construction Safety and Security field services, as directed, including but not limited to Site Safety and Security Reviews including for Construction Equipment, Personnel, Work Procedures and Traffic Control.
- Prepares daily inspection reports including photographs, cost estimates and maintenance records and provides timely submittals of these reports and records. Utilizes latest technology to prepare and submit reports in a cost effective manner following our inspection document control system.
- Arranges, coordinates, and oversees technical assessments such as electrical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete, welding, structural steel, and asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel for conformance to specification requirements.
- Assists the engineering consultants in the collecting, interpreting, analyzing and presenting geotechnical and survey monitoring data.
- Coordinates test laboratory activities and compares verifications test results with result from contractor’s laboratory using the QMO Database.
- Leads a team of inspectors, as necessary, on larger projects and coordinates inspection resources based on the project needs in coordination with the Construction Manager on site. May allocate inspection/assessment resources and supervise construction oversight staff also qualified to meet the duties above.
We invite candidates with the following qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience with equipment used in civil construction inspection, and construction office engineering.
- Knowledge of computers, computer applications, and computer software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others).
- Knowledge of critical path method (CPM) software such as Primavera Project Planner (P3, P6) and SureTrak, or any updated version, as a minimum; Scheduler Analyzer Pro; and Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge and experience with principles of effective communication.
- Knowledge and experience with monCitoring labor compliance.
- Knowledge and experience with subcontracting laws and policies.
- Knowledge and experience with the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program, the General Permit and other similar requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in keeping complete, accurate, and concise records of the work and quantities.
- 10+years of experience which reflect a progressively increasing level of responsibility on complex projects as a General Contractor, Resident Engineer, Lead Inspector or Inspector for heavy construction projects, transportation, or transit construction projects for civil, roadway or transit projects.
- Experience with street-running light rail, waterfront infrastructure, concrete rehabilitation and repairs, site civil work and other similar infrastructure is desired.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license.
- Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30-hour
