The Department of Physical Therapy is currently seeking a part time Physical Therapist 2 to work in Kendall, FL. The Physical Therapist 2 provides effective and efficient rehabilitation services to patients and clients in accordance with the APTA guidelines for physical therapy. The Physical Therapist 2 collaborates with healthcare teams that include physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                     

  • Performs evaluations of new patients to include the establishment of goals and appropriate treatment plans.

  • Progresses patients through different levels of treatment within the patient’s maximum capabilities.

  • Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions. Provides relevant education to patients and families regarding medical conditions.

  • Maintains effective communication with all members of the rehabilitation team.

  • Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain additional information and suggests revisions in treatment.

  • Participates in quality and safety improvement activities.

  • Orients, instructs, and directs work activities for assistants and support personnel.

  • Supervises and instructs physical therapy students according to professional guidelines.

  • Provides or participates in educational programs for staff, patients, and the community at large.

  • Represents the University at non-departmental conferences and seminars. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                    

Education:

Doctoral degree in relevant field required

Certification and Licensing:

Valid State of Florida Physical Therapist license required

Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):

• Performs evaluation on news patients, establish goals and develop appropriate treatment plans with the patient in accordance to departmental policies and procedures and based on standards of practice established by the APTA.

• Documents all evaluation, treatments and other pertinent patient interaction, on a daily basis, in accordance with department policies and procedures.

• Provides relevant education to patient and/or family regarding the patient’s condition and instruction for home activities.

• Communicates with physicians and their staff; obtain necessary information and suggest revisions in treatment when deemed appropriate.

• Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner in accordance to department policies and procedures.

• Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity according to standards and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis, real clinic need and treatment within the UHealth System.

• Participates in quality and safety improvement activities as directed.
