The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking an Accountant II to provide accounting expertise across capital projects, fixed assets, leases, grants, and departmental financial operations.
In this role, you’ll work closely with Facilities, Information Technology, Budget, Procurement, and other departments to ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and sound fiscal management that supports the college’s long‑term success.

Capital Projects & Fixed Asset Accounting:
- Support capital project development and administration, including the establishment, monitoring, and reconciliation of capital projects and construction‑in‑progress (CIP) activity
- Evaluate project expenditures for capitalization and coordinate project closeout activities
- Administer the college’s fixed asset accounting program, including capitalization, depreciation, inventory tracking, disposals, and reconciliation
- Coordinate and participate in fixed asset inventories, asset verification procedures, and inventory audits
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and institutional procedures related to capital assets
Lease Administration & Financial Compliance:
- Evaluate, account for, and monitor lease agreements and Subscription‑Based Information Technology Arrangements (SBITAs)
- Ensure proper accounting treatment, disclosures, and compliance with GASB 87 and GASB 96 requirements
- Research and apply governmental accounting standards and regulatory requirements to complex financial transactions
- Provide accounting guidance and recommendations that support strong internal controls and regulatory compliance
Grants, Reconciliations & Financial Reporting:
- Generate invoices in accordance with grant agreements and maintain supporting documentation
- Reconcile grant‑related accounts receivable balances and monitor grant activity
- Perform complex general ledger reconciliations involving cash, receivables, payroll, liabilities, fixed assets, depreciation, leases, capital projects, and other assigned accounts
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries related to fixed assets, CIP, leases, depreciation, in‑kind donations, and other accounting activities
- Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and financial analyses for year‑end reporting and audit support
Financial Analysis & Departmental Partnership:
- Prepare financial analyses, reports, and supporting documentation for management decision‑making
- Analyze budget‑to‑actual trends and departmental financial activity
- Meet regularly with Facilities, Information Technology, and other departments to support budgeting, project planning, and financial management
- Collaborate with campus partners to support capital planning, project tracking, and long‑term investment decisions
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and strengthened internal controls
Year‑End Close & Audit Support:
- Support year‑end close activities, including project closeout, fixed asset reconciliation, and depreciation review
- Assist with financial statement preparation and audit readiness efforts
- Respond to external auditor inquiries and provide requested documentation
- Help ensure timely and accurate completion of annual reporting requirements
