Description:

Indiana University Health Physicians is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Orthopedic team at Riley Hospital for Children. The RN is an integral part of the orthopedic team working alongside surgeons and advanced practice providers to ensure high quality of care to pediatric patients presenting with a variety of illnesses and injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system. As a Pediatric Orthopedic Registered Nurse, you will have the opportunity to join a team of highly skilled medical experts with a mission to deliver preeminent medical care and service to our patients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to function in a fast paced environment, demonstrating the ability to multitask and support various providers
  • Work collaboratively with staff to ensure the environment is optimal for patient care
  • Preparation of clinical charts
  • Manage and triage messages
  • Assist with preparation of prescriptions
  • Perform a variety of office based procedures including suture removal, splinting, and casting
  • Educate patients and families on conditions and specifics of treatment plan
  • Initiate surgery scheduling and prior authorizations

Schedule:

  • Full Time
  • Monday – Friday
  • No Holidays
  • No Weekends

  • Days

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered RN.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nursing program accredited through the ACEN or CCNE.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA. TB validated.
  • Two years of experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and general knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area and familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.
  • Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
  • Sufficient knowledge to observe and assist in the assessment of patients, and to detect and report obvious and/or dangerous changes in the condition of patients.
  • Basic working understanding of the concepts of infection control principles to prevent the spread of infection to patients, self and others.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
  • Knowledge of principles of growth/development across the life span.
  • Requires ability to cope with varying personalities of patients.
  • Requires ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
  • Requires ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner.
  • Requires ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
  • Requires ability to provide clinical reasoning; decision-making and critical thinking.
