The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Quality Assurance Investigative Nurse. Is responsible for developing and maintaining a review / audit system for measurement of operational and regulatory compliance for direct services, clinical nursing services and administrative support services and supports at all State Operated Service location(s). DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.

Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conducts follow-up review/audit of all recommended actions from incident reports, fact findings, and internal investigations. Conduct follow-up related to plans of correction. Prepares reports.
• Record-keeping to assure compliance. with all State Operated policies and state and federal laws, rules and regulations. Develop and maintain metrics related to regulatory compliance.
• May conducts fact findings and audits.
• Provides in-services to staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:

• Principles of nursing care
• The Nurse Practice Act in the State of Arizona
• Federal Title XIX ICF/IID regulations and interpretive guidance
• Medicare and Medicaid

Skills In:

• Medical chart review. Assessing, reviewing, and/or analyzing situations and/or data, i.e., critical thinking
• Oral and written communication, Producing professional technical reports
• Developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
• Using computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Ability to:

• Conduct and coordinate trainings • Recognize indicators of abuse and neglect
• Ensure confidentiality of member information consistent with federal and state laws, rules and regulations
• Learn Department of Health Services' (DHS) surveying, certification and life safety processes

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or experience with case management, quality management, or quality improvement.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Required at time of appointment: possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona.
