Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Investments is seeking a driven and entrepreneurial Investment Professional to join our dynamic corporate venture capital team. The title, Principal or Director, will be commensurate with experience and background. This is a high-impact role focused on identifying and investing in early-stage cybersecurity companies. You’ll be expected to source, evaluate, and lead investments in startups that align with both strategic priorities and emerging innovation in this fast-evolving sector.

 

In this role, you will leverage a wide range of skills, including strong financial and analytical acumen, excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building capabilities, and an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset. Your day-to-day will involve conducting in-depth market research and competitive analysis, developing robust financial models, and crafting compelling investment theses that support NextEra Energy’s long-term strategic vision. You’ll also work closely with internal business units to understand evolving operational needs and identify where technology can drive meaningful transformation.

 

From deal origination to closing, you’ll lead investment execution—negotiating and structuring venture investments that balance strategic alignment with strong financial returns. Post-investment, you’ll continue to provide guidance and support to portfolio companies, helping them scale and succeed. Building lasting relationships with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and industry experts will be a key part of your success, as will staying ahead of market trends, regulatory shifts, and new technologies that shape the energy and tech landscapes.

Please note: The compensation shown is base pay only and represents a principal position. Total compensation is a combination of base pay, cash bonus and restricted stock units. Base and total pay would be adjusted for a director.

Job Overview

This role will be responsible for researching, screening, and evaluating potential venture capital investments. This position will source new opportunities and lead execution of transactions. Employees in this position conduct rigorous, independent research to evaluate potential investments.

The estimated base pay for this position is $168,800.00 to $253,200.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
