Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) plays a key role in developing and supporting technology-enhanced teaching and learning at all levels and modalities. The Director is responsible for the leadership and administration of the CETL and reports to the Provost. The Director collaborates with academic departments, faculty, and staff to align instruction with the College's academic priorities, mission, and institutional learning outcomes, including accessibility and ADA requirements. The Director ensures the exemplary quality of online courses to meet accreditation and regulatory requirements. The Director facilitates and recommends related professional development for faculty.General Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Provost’s Office and Institutional Research (IR) to ensure compliance with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation standards, state guidelines, federal laws, and NC-SARA’s guidelines for distance education;
• Implement, maintain, and improve the quality review process for online courses through collaboration with Quality Matters/Online Learning lead for the campus;
• Work with instructional leaders and faculty to ensure timely and high-quality course improvement and examine links between course quality and online student success and completion;
• Collaborate with Information Technology Services (ITS) and Academic Affairs relative to the selection, integration, and support of appropriate learning technologies, including course materials, teaching and learning tools, and integrity-focused academic technology;
• Coordinate with faculty, instructional leaders, and the Director of System Programs and Database Services to develop and build online courses in the learning management system (LMS) that meet best practice standards for course design, regular and substantive interaction, academic rigor, and continuous development and improvement;
• In concert with instructional leaders, campus training coordinator, Excellence in Teaching campus lead, and assessment team, develop and conduct faculty training opportunities and resources for best practices in teaching and student learning assessment with academic technology;
• Collaborate with faculty to create student-centered learning activities and assessments that align with institutional, program, and course learning outcomes;
• Collaborate with IR and ITS on various data collection, regulatory or ad-hoc reporting, or analysis projects dealing with online education or quality assurance;
• Serve as Quality Matters Peer Reviewer for subscriber managed Quality Matters Course Reviews for the college;
