Senior back-end developer (AWS expert)

For our team based in Milan, we are seeking a skilled Senior Backend Developer to join our team and help build a robust backend infrastructure for our Multi-media online role-playing game (MMORPG) experience. The successful candidate will have deep experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable solutions on the AWS platform, as well as a firm understanding of integrating third-party services using REST APIs. Experience with game development, preferably with the Unreal Engine 5.0, will give the candidate an edge.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain a robust and scalable backend system using AWS services that supports our MMORPG.
• Leverage AWS technologies to implement key game features such as matchmaking, leaderboards, in-game transactions, and player data management.
• Integration of third-party services using REST APIs for functionalities such as blockchain and AI services developed by thrid-parties, social media sharing, payment gateways, etc.
• Collaborate with the game develpoment team to ensure smooth interactions between the frontend and backend.
• Ensure secure data storage and protection against threats and attacks
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, modifications and unit testing of game applications and related tools
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features, develop and maintain pipeline and workflows.
• Support development of new and exciting game play and experience mechanics
• Strong organizational and communications skills along with understanding production values, deadlines and priorities

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 4+ years of backend development experience, with a focus on AWS cloud technologies (AWS) to develop the MMORPG’s backend infrastructure, Devops, Microservices and Creating and maintaining a CI/CD pipeline in AWS
• Proficiency in web services to integrate the different Rest APIs that will be released regarding blockchain, database and other components provided by software vendors and third party services
• Integrating back-end services to the game engine (nice to have experience of working with Pixel Streaming of Unreal Engine Version 5)
• Understanding of both relational and non-relational databases and other AWS components such as (and not limited to) EC2, S3, Dynamo DB, Gamelift, Lambda, Cognito, API gateway, Cloud Front, Cloud Formation, ELB, etc.
• Good knowledge of Unreal Engine’s Blueprint system
• Experience in dealing with high traffic systems and scalability issues
• Detailed knowledge of the following programming languages:

• Nice to have requirements:
  • Interfacing with hardware and streaming data servers directly into game engine
