Our Authentication Centers (warehouses) are where the magic happens! The Art & Science of Real comes to life within our facilities located in New Jersey and Arizona — combining the knowledge of hundreds of luxury experts with cutting-edge, proprietary technology. As consigned goods travel into our facilities, the team processes, authenticates, and photographs each item in preparation for listing to our website. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Gemology, the Gemology Associate at The RealReal supports the Fine Jewelry and Watch department through advanced gemological testing of colored gemstones with Raman spectroscopy and gemology specific quality control. What You Get To Do Everyday

• Counsel on content, best practices, and diamond and colored stones specific needs
• Maintain and organize TRR’s proprietary training materials 
• Be a crucial part of the inbound pipeline by testing gemstones with Raman spectroscopy prior to product assortment and distribution 
• Be able to meet daily gemstone identification goals using the Raman machine
• Strive for efficiency and accuracy within the gemstone identification process and be able to apply gemology and brand listing standards while identifying gemstones
• Successfully complete Raman onboarding training and periodic lessons
• Learn the TRR authentication system within the context of the Gemology Associate role
• Be open to periodic feedback to increase efficiency of Raman machine integration
• Ability to use good judgment at shortcoming and limitations of Raman machine

Minimum Requirements

• 1+ year of experience working in a warehouse production environment
• Strong problem solving skills with a solutions-focused mentality
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a strong desire to collaborate with the team
• Self-motivation and a drive to achieve results
• Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills
• Adaptability and openness to change

Preferred Requirements

• Proficiency with Mac OS and Google Suite

The expected hourly rate for this role is $30.00- $30.00. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. Additionally, salary is just one component of TRR’s total rewards package. Depending on role, employees may also be eligible for a bonus program, incentive pay and benefits.
