About the role

Description

Job Summary

The Director of Operations will have accountability for the safety, quality, cost, delivery performance, continuous improvement, employee engagement and teamwork of the facility. This role is also responsible for driving financial performance and is responsible for the Profit and Loss (P&L). 


Essential Functions:

  • Develops, implements, and executes of operations strategies.
  • Owns safety, production, cost and talent development objectives.
  • Actively engages in improvement and processes decisions, recommends systems, or products to enhance performance of the operation. 
  • Provides data driven recommendations on business and operational process improvements.
  • Deploys and drives enterprise lean concepts, techniques, and behaviors.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Develops comprehensive business strategies that assure success of the organization and takes ownership of all aspects of the associated value streams being managed.
  • Leads with a responsibility to drive technical problem solving, leads effective product introductions, meets all quality objectives, customer demand and financial goals.
  • Must set clear priorities and assure performance against goals within those priorities.
  • Participates in initial and organic business development and ongoing customer account management. 
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to achieve business objectives.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical related field preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in medical device, life science, or pharmaceutical companies, managing manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading through others. 
  • Strong understanding of ISO 13485 Compliant Product Development Requirements and associated Design Controls.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing a P&L.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong Analytical / problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to collect, summarize and report technical information.
  • Ability to manage a high workload.
  • Ability to handle and be trusted with confidential and/or sensitive information.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and to handle multiple projects in an organized, timely manner

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Must wear gown, gloves, ear protection and other personal protective equipment when applicable.
