Arthrex is actively searching for a Sr. Gage and Fixture Design Senior Technician I for our Manufacturing site in Pendleton, SC. Main Objective:

The Gage & Fixture design Senior I technician is responsible for designing and procuring gages and services to support the inspection of complex product dimensions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Using a CAD program, assist in the design of attribute fixtures for new projects, creating the drawings necessary to the required quality standards on a production basis.
• Revise drawings of Gage & Fixture components, subassemblies, finished devices, packaging, tooling and fixtures in CAD as required.
• Responsible for collaborating with the functional gage requestors to fully understand the gaging need, provide solutions that support low cost, ease of use, and calibration.
• Obtain quotes for Gages and Fixtures.
• Create purchase requisitions to reorder parts, Gages and Fixtures as needed to achieve zero downtime.
• Participates in continuous improvement activities.
• Managing Gage & Fixture projects from design to procurement.
• Train and mentor staff- Gage and Fixture Design Technicians I and II on the gage design process, and GD&T.
• Assist with conducting Gage R&R’s.
• Ensures that tool shops have all the necessary information, data, GD&T, etc. to proceed with design and build of gauges.
• Coordinate with Engineering to determine status of damaged or non-working Gages and Fixtures.

Safety:

Has the ability to follow all safety training requirements for the position. Notifies management and or the Safety Officer of any unsafe work conditions.

 

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma required.
• Associates Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline or technical school/ASQ certification with equivalent work experience preferred. 
• 8 years of relevant experience required.
• 8 years’ experience with CAD programs, advanced 3D modeling and blueprint creation.
• 4 years’ experience with advanced dimensioning, tolerancing and advanced GD & T as per ASME Y14.5 Standard.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Proficient in CAD or similar dimensional graphic programs. Machine shop processes and technical knowledge in development methodologies, design, and implementation. Proficiency in SAP. Candidate must be familiar with ASME and ISO gauge related standards.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC, CAD systems, and various measurement and test equipment.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw a valid conclusion as to a course of action. 

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements. 

 

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.  Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
