As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients as a whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room. Non-Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support, training and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts.
A caregiver in this position works evening/night rotating shifts from 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. OR 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday rotation requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
- Provide case cart management.
- Understand proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Observe personal protective equipment standards in the decontamination process.
- Scan, sort, inspect and assemble instruments by instrument list and wrap and label as documented in the procedure.
- Perform recordkeeping.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) is required within 18 months after hire, unless an extension is granted at the purview of leadership
- Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar will be considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- One year of healthcare experience or a similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly
- Basic computer skills
