Analyst, Shareholder Activism Defense

The Analyst, Shareholder Activism Defense will report into the Director of Practice Management for the M&A group and work under the direction on the Shareholder Activism Defense Partners. The Analyst will provide value by anticipating, analyzing and responding to activist investor campaigns. In this role, the Analyst will evaluate financial, strategic and governance vulnerabilities, conduct in-depth market and shareholder analyses and create client presentations on shareholder activism and corporate governance. This role will sit on the Shareholder Activism Defense team within the Firm’s M&A practice.
Responsibilities
Create, maintain and review complex materials and analyses relating to shareholder activism, corporate governance and trading activity
Provide strategic input to issuers on contested M&A situations, capital market considerations and investor relations
Prepare corporate clients for potential activist shareholder engagement through corporate preparedness assignments
Develop proprietary knowledge and insights into trading activity and capital markets monitoring for clients
Monitor and stay abreast of relevant trends and regulatory developments
Work closely with the group heads to establish ongoing processes and procedures
Education
Required
Bachelor’s Degree Required
Preferred
A degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Experience
Required
Minimum of 2-3 years of previous experience in a similar role
Possess and acquire superior market knowledge relating to developments in domestic and international shareholder engagement, governance best practices, proxy advisory firms
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Advanced skills of Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to clearly articulate this knowledge to internal and external parties
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects with different deal teams; Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive
Proficiency with Bloomberg
Salary Information
NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $170,000 to $200,000 at the time of posting.
The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
