Software Engineer 3

We are seeking a Software Engineer 3 for this Python Developer position who enjoys the innovative and creative side of software development and technology evaluation associated with finding innovative solutions to mission critical emerging challenges!  You will be part of a talented software team that focuses on developing solutions to innovate mission-critical applications, following agile software development practices to complete tasks on time. The requirements and priorities for this position are early and evolving. Those interested in this position should be comfortable with change, as this opportunity is focused on finding innovative solutions to our customer’s toughest challenges, addressed via research and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) of new technologies, experimentation, and prototype development.  Skills around provisioning of infrastructure within a hybrid, multi-cloud environment is desired (e.g. VMware for on-prem, AWS & Azure).  Functional themes for the effort include data analytics, ML & AI, Cyber Threat Intelligence, DevOps, Containerization & Orchestration, Cloud Migration (AWS & Azure), cross-domain capabilities, and many more. The selected candidate will be responsible for:•Analyzing, designing, developing, testing deploying, and maintaining Python based innovative solutions to address emerging mission challenges, using industry best practices and frameworks.•Researching new technologies, understanding emerging challenges to mission critical solutions and quick reaction problem identification & resolution.•Documenting experiment results, prototype software solutions and ensuring that all technical documentation (i.e. configuration guides, install guides) meets requirements.•Collaborating with other team members and stakeholders to jointly solve problems and find solutions as a team. •Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. 
Additional Information:•Work performed in contractor facility in Annapolis Junction.•Software development on low and high side to build innovative solutions in both environments.•Working in both AWS and Azure environments.•The low side development currently allows for partial telework from approved locations.

Capabilities

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features or refactor to support cloud migration, modernization, improve performance and/or conversion to microservices
• Write or review software and system documentation
• Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
• Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software
• Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas
• Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project
• Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
• Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
• Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects

Required Qualifications

• TS/SCI w/MPO client level poly
• Twenty (20) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required
• Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree

Required Technical Skills

• Strong software development skills with Python, Object Oriented Programming concepts and patterns.
• Experience in SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) that includes Requirements Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing, Implementation, Maintenance with the Agile Methodology

Desired Technical Skills

• Knowledge and experience developing in Java and related technologies is a big plus
• Good understanding of software project management tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence)
