JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for organizing and overseeing the daily activities of the clinic back office. This individual will, under direction of the clinic manager, supervise clinic nurse teams, communicate with different departments and ensure adequate patient care amongst other duties. Will provide direct and indirect patient care in the office setting. Provide care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs coordination of care of patient and family; provide care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a provider. Maintains and enforces regulatory requirements, nursing and office policies, procedures and standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
· Float as workload warrants.
· Ensures patient flow and mitigate encounter bottlenecks.
· Monitors patient communication to help facilitate prompt relay of results.
· Provides an avenue for Providers when urgent patient communication is needed.
· Managers MA staff scheduling, makes adjustments to ensure provider coverage.
· Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a provider, evaluates outcomes, consults with other health team members as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
· Ability to perform assessments under the supervision of a provider, on all patients as per policy.
· This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population. Ability to triage within scope of practice.
· Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
· Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Every visit/chart reviewed must be accompanied by a note clearly defining path for patient care and follow up. Perform ED Follow up/Health Maintenance for providers who do not have staff coverage.
· Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
· Follows the seven (7) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
· Medical and surgical asepsis is carried out during treatments and special procedures.
· Communicates appropriately and clearly to co-workers, providers and office manager.
· Demonstrates the ability to assist providers with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of a provider.
· Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
· Interacts professionally with patient and family and involves patient and family in patient education.
· Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and Confidentiality policies.
· Provides leadership to promote professional nursing practice in the Clinic.
· Identifies opportunities to improve clinical performance.
· Participates in interviews and selects RNs, LPNs, MA’s and other staff appropriate to meet the staffing plan and clinical care objectives of the department.
