Sr. Research Program Coodinator

The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator to work under the direct supervision of the Research Program Manager and will assist in the day-to-day logistical, operational, reporting and manuscript preparation tasks of multiple research studies in the Department. Primary responsibilities will involve research and innovation projects at the Centers of Excellence for Influenza Research and Response (CEIRR) and the Center for Data Science in Emergency Medicine (CDEM). The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will work on research studies including but not limited to respiratory virus, diagnostics and public health surveillance projects.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Under the direction of CDEM’s directors, builds an interface that presents live data to John Hopkins Emergency physicians and shares patient’s outcomes back to providers.
• Working with CDEM and CEIRR faculty, analyzes influenza genomic data to identify anomalies and trends in new influenza variants.
• Maintains good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
• Adheres to all protocol requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.
• With guidance, prepares and submits annual renewal requests, amendments and adverse event reports with clinical input according to IRB and Sponsor policies and procedures.
• Assist with development of study protocols, SOPs, MOPs and assist with modifications to study-specific policies for the sole purpose of project improvement.
• Monitor paper data collection forms and electronic research records for quality assurance in accordance with IRB and Sponsor requirements.
• Communicates with study sponsors and principal investigators ensuring study requirements and expectations are fulfilled by study team members.
• Verifies participant eligibility following study-specific inclusion and exclusion criteria.
• Assist with recruitment, enrollment and completion of study participants follow-up visits.
• Review patients electronic medical record and abstract data during data collection process.
• Collaboration with participating study labs for coordination of biorepository sample pulls and preparation of specimen boxes.
• Collects and processes biological samples from study participants.
• Serve as an IV blood collection super user and as a resource to fellow coordinators for difficult collections from study participants.
• Initiates shipment of biological samples to site sponsors abiding by the Department of Transportation shipment regulations and study protocol.
• Assist Research Program Manager with project coordination operations and setup of SIREN studies.
• Implement peer mentorship support for program coordinators’ shift concerns.
• Create and modify RedCap data collection surveys for multiple studies.
• Work with Research Program Manage to maintain and update the research department’s website to present updates on ongoing and new projects.
• Create illustrations and flyers for research-oriented events and seminars.
• Create screening and enrollment database infrastructures for multiple studies in order to present optimized, accurate, and high-quality data to PIs and other team members.
• Create illustrations, logos, and flyers for research-oriented events and seminars.
• Meets regularly with study team to review data accuracy and overall study progress.
• Create educational materials for new RPCs to standardize training.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
• Three years related experience.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $40,900 - $71,600 Annually ($70,180 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
