Overview

Princeton University is looking for a proactive, knowledgeable, and adaptable nursing professional to join University Health Services as an Infirmary nurse. Infirmary Services are available 24/7 from August through May.

 

The position is scheduled for 28-32 hours per week, with a finalized scheduled determined by the manager. The shift is night shift (10:45pm-7:15am) and includes every other weekend. The position is August through May ONLY, with summers (June & July) off.

Responsibilities

• Conduct telephone and in-person triage following established protocols.
• Administer independent nursing appointments for students who do not need a provider visit, including, but not limited to sick visits and emergency contraception.
• Support Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants in their clinical duties.
• Assess and monitor patients with urgent concerns until a final decision or medical evaluation is completed.
• Administer treatments and medications as required based on standing orders.
• Provide patient education on health management and preventative care.
• Perform point-of-care testing as needed.

Qualifications

 

Essential Qualifications:

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse licensure in good standing.
• A Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in an emergency department setting (Candidates without emergency department experience will not be considered unless they have college health experience or experience similar to an emergency department) 
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
• Experience in telephone and in person triage
• Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
• Proficiency in basic nursing procedures, including venipuncture, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections; nebulizer treatments; wound care; and infection prevention.
• Ability to conduct thorough physical assessments and identify both normal and abnormal signs and symptoms independently.
• Competence in administering treatments and medications in accordance with established protocols.
• Physical capability to move and assist patients, navigate the unit, and stand for extended periods.
• Strong independent decision-making skills.
• Effective in delegating tasks clearly and comfortably to others.
• Ability to manage stressful situations and maintain composure under pressure.
• Efficient use of human and material resources.
• Customer service-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

• College Health experience
• ACLS Certification
