About the team
The Property History & Transactions Team, part of Zillow Group Property Data, is responsible for building world class data pipelines and datasets to empower Zillow Group brands and customers with price history and transaction data. We achieve this goal by building and deploying highly scalable data pipelines, adhering to software/data engineering best practices and ensuring the quality of our data to the delight of our consumers. As Property Data is at the forefront of Zillow, you will join a team where there are plenty of interesting data challenges to solve and opportunities to embrace innovative and open source solutions. The team has recently expanded their scope to build internal data products to empower teams at Zillow Group with their analytics use cases (e.g. Zestimate, Personalization, Growth AI, Econ Research, etc.). The team is still relatively new. This team was formed in early 2020, but consists of a diverse group of talent that has worked on different components within Zillow’s data pipeline. Every month approximately 238 million unique users visit Zillow to view properties and active listings on Zillow. The ability to aggregate Listing events from multiple sources and attach them to their corresponding Properties, thereby creating a comprehensive and accurate representation of property history is the lifeblood of Zillow.
All systems at Zillow depend on the availability of this data in one way or another. Users appreciate seeing past/future valuation trends as well as price history events of a property when shopping for a home.
The Property History & Transactions (PHT) team is responsible for the delivery of this data, which enables several Engineering teams at Zillow to build high quality products for our customers.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $186,300.00 - $297,700.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.Who you are
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
- Has worked with our tech stacks: Java/Spring, Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, AWS, Python, ScyllaDB are all technologies being used on the team
- A candidate with a strong backend background along with data engineering experience would be ideal. Experience working with any stream or batch data processing technologies (Apache Flink, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Hive) is a preference.
