A Day in the Life

The person in this role will work from the Medtronic facility located in Mounds View, Minnesota.

The Enterprise Architecture & Data Platforms value-stream (EADP) is accountable for enterprise data assets across the company including data & analytics platforms, data & analytics solutions governance, quality, recency, data interfaces, integration with external systems and advanced analytics capabilities. The Hyperautomation team is part of the Data Platforms value-stream and uses advanced technologies to automate business and IT processes. This can include anything from simple task automation to complex decision making and agentic AI. We empower our employees and services with digital superpowers.

We are seeking an established and highly experienced Principal Full Stack JavaScript Developer with expertise in full stack software development using JavaScript and ideally experience in building Generative AI solutions, to join our Data Science, Process Excellence and Automation team. As a Developer, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining our Generative AI platform called “MedtronicGPT” to drive process optimization and increase productivity for our employees globally. Your understanding of software development and leveraging AI will be crucial in building, deploying and maintaining a scalable enterprise platform.

  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs, and implements operating system components, software tools, and utilities.
  • Determines systems software design requirements.
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
  • Generates systems software engineering policies, standards, and procedures.
  • May work across a variety of software lifecycle activities as determined by program needs.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy highly scalable and resilient JavaScript applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand requirements and translate them into functional and high-quality software solutions.
  • Create and work with various APIs, ensuring seamless data flow and integration across multiple systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues, optimize performance, and ensure application scalability and achievable maintenance.
  • Be responsible for developing, improving, supporting, and monitoring the Generative AI platform.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure applications remain current.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality; distribute knowledge.
  • Contribute to system process documentation, application design, and architecture.

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree
