SUMMARY: The Senior Structural Engineer will be an integral part of the BV Architecture & Engineering team. The candidate will collaborate with the Principal Structural Engineer and inter-disciplinary teams on a broad range of project types and sizes. The ideal candidate has experience independently delivering commercial projects as a Structural Engineer. The role of a Structural Engineer is to work independently on small and medium projects, and as a team leader of larger projects responsible for the work of Structural Engineers. The Structural Engineer will be able to evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned in conformance with state and federal regulations.
- Follow best practices and company standards for technical excellence and delivery.
- Ensure all completed projects comply with relevant codes, regulations, and quality standards.
- Deliver structurally sound designs capable of withstanding all required loads as per applicable codes.
- Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
- Establish and enforce design protocols aligned with relevant codes and industry standards.
- Provide guidance to civil engineers on best practices in building design and execution.
- Analyze project objectives and perform detailed structural calculations.
- Design structural components for buildings, bridges, and other structures using advanced computer software. Develop 2D and 3D models utilizing tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and RISA.
- Recommend appropriate materials based on structural requirements and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with contractors and provide onsite guidance to construction teams to ensure structural integrity.
- Oversee project management, including budget tracking and maintaining a comprehensive project database.
- Review shop drawings, offering constructive feedback and technical support to team members.
- Conduct field visits to assess project viability and progress, providing detailed reports as needed.
- Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, updates, and collaborative decision-making.
- Stay current with industry trends, new materials, and innovative design techniques.
- Protects operations by keeping company information confidential. Use of professional discretion and judgement is mandatory.
