Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Consultant to help grow our Value Chain Transformation team, providing clients with due diligence, responsible sourcing, supplier engagement and social and environmental impact advisory services. Growing regulatory obligations related to environmental and forced labor due diligence are putting more pressure on companies to ensure their supply chains are ethically and environmentally responsible. Along with the new regulatory arena organizations continue to set ambitious sustainability goals and policies for their own operations as well as for those with whom they conduct business across their entire value chain. Specifically, engaging partners and suppliers along the value chain is a challenging but critical area for companies to drive environmental and social transformation, and they are increasingly seeking our help to design and deploy effective solutions that meet them where they are, increase engagement and resiliency, and identify opportunities for greater value creation and improved business performance.

In this role, you will share responsibility in leading Value Chain Transformation projects, leading client engagements, contributing to business development and marketing activities, and providing oversight and supervise staff in the Value Chain Transformation team. You will serve as a subject-matter expert on projects delivered in other business lines and regions of Anthesis. You will be a part of a wider Circularity and Value Chain Transformation Team, which is made up of innovative and skilled experts who share an enthusiasm for building tailored strategic solutions that meet our clients where they are, whether that is supporting a full-scale transformation across their operations, supply chain and product strategy or working on a targeted challenge, such as circularity, better social impact, cost savings, innovation, or compliance, that fits into a bigger piece of their value creation approach.

Our projects and clients span across a diverse set of industries, ranging from technology to consumer goods and retail, to food and agriculture, and may focus on a variety of sustainability focus areas, such as Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHGs)/Science-Based Targets (SBTs), water, deforestation, supplier diversity, human rights and decent work, and/or environmental management systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Subject matter expert as it pertains to both legal requirements (e.g. CSDDD, LkSG, EU Batteries Regulation, Canadian Modern Slavery Act) as well as voluntary frameworks and guidelines (OECD, UNGPs, ILO, ISO)
  • Subject matter expert as it relates to sustainability reporting requirements for sustainability due diligence.
Client Development:
  • Support the Value Chain Transformation go-to-market strategy and related initiatives, in close collaboration with the regional and global Value Chain Transformation leads.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including responding to in-bound client opportunities, joining sales calls, stewarding proposals, as well as developing new business directly with prospective clients (new or existing).
  • Define and organize service offerings and supporting materials, e.g., sales materials, proposal, budget, and deliverable templates, etc. as well as monitoring market developments to evolve the current offerings, tools, and approaches to meet and exceed client needs.
  • Oversee quality assurance for the Value Chain Transformation offerings and establish efficient but effective QA processes for deliverables.
  • Prepare successful proposals for large and complex scopes of work that demonstrate an understanding of context and pathways to value creation.
  • Select and lead project teams that contribute to client success.
  • Deliver well-researched and framed recommendations to clients, that lead to new value creation op
