About the role

The AV Classroom Media Manager plays a key operational role in supporting film and media production activities across the department. This full-time, non-exempt position manages a small team, oversees AV and media-related logistics for classes and productions and collaborates closely with the Senior Manager of Film Production and Video Production Coordinator to ensure smooth execution of all production projects and deadlines. The AV & Classroom Media Manager also supports public-facing events, including Final Film Festivals and Panel Nights, and ensures that all media resources—from classrooms to screening rooms—are functioning efficiently and effectively.  Primary Responsibilities:
  • Reports to and collaborates with the Senior Manager of Film Production to plan and fulfill staffing needs for classes and productions throughout the semester. 
  • Coordinate in-class technical support and AV equipment for courses requiring camera, audio, or projection assistance. 
  • Provide on-site AV support for the department’s secondary facility at the 61st Street location. 
  • Supervise daily operations in the Mac Lab, including student access, equipment functionality, and software maintenance in collaboration with IT. 
  • Manage organization of media for non-production related classroom footage  
  • Provide operational and technical support in the screening room, ensuring seamless playback and presentation. 
  • Organize and execute all logistics for end-of-semester Final Film Festivals for the Acting for the Camera, Studio Programs, and Film Series: 
  • Schedule screenings 
  • Purchase and coordinate refreshments 
  • Coordinate staffing and media delivery 
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate the Panel Night events in collaboration with academic instructors/leadership and Senior Manager of Production, including: 
  • Gathering and organizing materials for panel feedback 
  • Distributing feedback to faculty for instructional and production use 
  • Communicating with the Panel Night student groups as necessary 
  • Manage a small team of Classroom Media and Over hire Support Staff and student workers, including payroll and timesheet processing. 
  • Collaborate with Senior Manager of Production on budget of department including classroom, staffing, office supplies and other maintenance needs.   
  • Ensure all media projects stay on track with timelines and meet quality expectations. 
  • Can be assigned role of Film Production and Editing Lead when needed
  • Directly manage the Classroom Media and OH Support Staff, Student Workers, and Audio Engineers. This includes hiring recommendations, scheduling, mentoring, and performance oversight.  
  • Other duties as assigned 
  Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to manage complex project timelines. 
  • Familiarity with managing payroll or time tracking for a team. 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with attention to detail. 
  • Experience with media asset management, event coordination, and classroom support. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, arts-centered academic environment. 
  • Experience in an academic or arts-based environment. 
  • Familiarity with feedback loops for performance-based programs (e.g., actor reels, faculty notes). 
  • Knowledge of digital asset organization and media archiving best practices. 
  • 1 year or more of supervisory experience 
  • Bachelor's degree in film production, Media Arts, or a related field  
  • Minimum 3 years of professional film or media production experience 
  • Experience in camera operation, lighting, sound, and editing (Adobe Premiere Pro or similar). 
  Position Information:
  • May be required to work an alternate schedule which would include weekend days and/or evenings periodically based on student calendar and department needs. 
  • The regular schedule for this role is Monday – Friday 9:00am – 6:00pm ET. This is subject to change based on department needs.
  • The pay range for this position is $28 - $30 per hour.
