Start Date: June 11th, 2026 Eligibility for Remote Work: Hybrid. Service provision is in the community, administrative work can be done remotely Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision insurance eligibility. Retirement plan eligibility with 2% employer match. 13 paid holidays. Paid sick time off, paid vacation and paid floating holidays available. Schedule: 20 hours per week. Monday through Friday, evenings required. Flexible depending on need.Crisis Support Services of Alameda County (CSS) is seeking a resourceful and clinically skilled Hourly Group Therapist. You will be responsible for therapeutic groups for grief/loss and older adult populations, including outreach, planning, facilitation, and Medi-Cal compliant documentation. This position will develop curriculum with the support of the Clinical Director, facilitate or co-facilitate clinical groups in the community throughout Alameda County. The focus of the position is to increase services to underserved populations.
Supervision/Direction Received:Weekly Individual and group supervision provided
Level of Decision Making:The group therapist will work with the Clinical team on developing curriculum, identifying locations and partnerships, and building partnerships
Job Responsibilities
1. Clinical Group Facilitation (Direct Service)- Facilitate weekly therapeutic and psychoeducational groups for adults experiencing grief (including suicide loss) and older adults (65+) navigating life transitions.
- Conduct clinical intakes and mental health screenings to determine group appropriateness.
- Manage a caseload of group participants, ensuring a high standard of care and crisis de-escalation as needed.
2. Outreach & Program Development (Administrative/Planning)
- Outreach: Actively identify and build partnerships with Alameda County senior centers, healthcare providers, and community hubs to drive referrals.
- Planning: Design curriculum and resource materials tailored to the specific needs of the geriatric and bereaved communities.
- Coordination: Manage the administrative lifecycle of the group, including scheduling, attendance tracking, and waitlist management.
- Complete clinical progress notes and treatment plans within 24–48 hours of service.
- Ensure all documentation meets Medi-Cal "Medical Necessity" standards and Alameda County Behavioral Health (ACBH) requirements.
- Accurately track and submit billable hours (direct service) and non-billable hours (outreach/admin) via the agency’s EHR.
Qualifications
- Must have at least 1 year of experience facilitating therapy groups
- Some evening availability required
- Ability to utilize supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Values working cooperatively with others
- Ability to manage deadlines / handle confidential information in professional manner
- Sensitive to the cultural and ethnic diversity of Alameda County
- Experience applying a diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging lens to therapeutic practice
Minimum Qualifications
- Must complete Background Check (DoJ) and LiveScan
- Must live within a 100 mile radius of Oakland, CA 94609
- Must be able to commute onsite and within Alameda County
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (Fully vaccinated is defined as having received both initial doses of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine OR the single dose of the Jansen vaccine and at least one booster.) Or have a valid religious or medical exemption.
- Must have access to a secure internet connection (If secure, you should see a padlock next to the wifi symbol), a computer with camera (for remote meetings), a mobile phone (for multi-factor authentication), and a private space for completing confidential work, making calls, and attending meetings. Or be able to work fully onsite to accommodate any of these needs.
