Description
1.0 PURPOSE
- 1.1 The Quality Assurance Lead pro-actively works to optimize finished goods quality by cooperating with warehouse and operations to maintain and improve quality programs for raw material, processing water, dying and processing, equipment cleaning, inventory FIFO and S.O.P. training of quality and production teams.
2.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- 2.1 Performs, trains and verifies quality technicians on the many S.O.P.’s to test finished goods prior to shipping and process water and raw material for use.
- 2.2 Listens and communicates quality initiatives, observations and changes during daily pre- shift operational meetings. Leverages in-person and email to pro-actively engage with cross teams.
- 2.4 Trends quality data quarterly to assess changes, improvements, and concerns for finished goods using statistical interpretations
- 2.5 Evaluates new and incoming raw materials for use and function; supports operations to use optimally and provides feedback to purchasing.
- 2.6 Documents and resolves site deviated materials using hold, deviation & disposition systems; supports entire QMS (Quality Management System programs and S.O.P.’s)
- 2.7 Provides working back-up for technicians; cross trains quality team so all can do all
- 2.8 Audits the manufacturing and office facility and quality system monthly
- 2.11 Reviews quality testing databases for accurate entry; participates in QMS documentation reviews
- 2.14 Coordinates quality initiatives with plant manager and works with supervisors
- 2.17 Pursues root cause analysis and corrective actions using team based approach
- 2.19 Orders laboratory equipment and supplies for manufacturing facility locations
- 2.20 Represents the Company by maintaining a professional approach and demeanor in all activities
- 2.21 Manages sending samples and reviewing results for site’s 3rd party laboratory testing.
3.0 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- 3.1 Associate’s degree in a related technical field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- 3.2 Approximately five to ten years of successful quality assurance management experience in a manufacturing environment (pulp & paper/food manufacturing experience a plus)
- 3.3 Intermediate level excel
- 3.4 Familiar with inventory control systems having hold and release programs
- 3.5 Familiar with HACCP and SQF or equivalent auditing quality systems
- 3.6 Ability to apply sound judgment, analytical and problem-solving techniques to make reasoned, timely and consistent decisions
- 3.7 Ability to work well internal customers

4.0 WORKING CONDITIONS
4.1 Uses appropriate safety equipment and follows safety policies, practices and procedures.
4.2 Works in an office or meeting room setting and at plant locations. Attends meetings or performs duties outside of normal office hours and may travel by air or car.
4.3 Sits or stands for long periods of time and may work in an environment with some discomfort due to temperature fluctuation.
4.4 May occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds and may walk and / or work in an industrial environment.
