MATERIAL HANDLER

Perform duties required to load and unload trucks delivering supplies and parts. Place material in staging area, maintain records of materials received, and move materials throughout the shop with quality and safety in mind at all times. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Load and unload trucks carrying, weighing, counting, and moving raw materials, supplies and finished parts, using a forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Review daily hot rush list and work with production and quality to ensure timely delivery of customer product. 
• Complete shop orders and bills of lading on materials for delivery. 
• Weigh all incoming/outgoing parts and verify receipt against paperwork. 
• Verify all information on packing slips, such as net weight, container type, number of containers, part number and purchase order number. 
•  Inspect incoming work for proper packaging and/or damage. 
• Tag product accurately. 
• Identify and move product per work instructions.
• Prepare orders for shipment by UPS, common carrier, Fed Ex etc. ensuring that orders include complete packing slips, bills of lading, delivery tickets, freight forms and verify weight/count before shipping.
• Advise quality control department of returned goods and put in MRB (material review board). 
• Record incoming shipment information on appropriate forms and forward to proper personnel. 
• Assist operators and helpers in locating parts. 
• Assemble and provide freight forms to Corporate. 
• Collect payment from cash on delivery customers. 
• Prepare pallets and containers to be able to withstand the stress of transport. 
• Assist Order Writing Department in receiving goods by re-weighing and verifying container counts and types. 
• Prepare outbound shipments paperwork in computer and/or manually. 
• Piece counting select outbound shipments using the shipping scale. 
• Must be proficient in Production Information Customer Service system. 
• Respond to customer service requests for shipping information, as well as, customer inquiries concerning parts. 

Knowledge:

• Requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. 
• Requires good telephone demeanor; basic computer skills. 
• Knowledge of basic math principles such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; a basic understanding of weights and measurements. 
• Ability to prioritize tasks.

Experience:

• Must be available for all shifts.
• On-the-job training is required for this position.

Qualifications: 

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen, including THC.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required:

• Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
