Job Description:
SUMMARY
Teaches a full range of skills and
knowledge for the certificate program in medical coding. Prepares students to
pass the CPC examination.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
- Presents
facilitative, well prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom
activities consistent with the course syllabus (AAPC curriculum, medical
terminology, anatomy & physiology, advanced medical coding, HCPCS
coding, ICD-10 coding) and school policies
- Continually promotes students’ development and
effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking,
evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation,
problem solving, and decision-making

- Ability to instruct through remote and in-person
delivery (Blackboard, virtual classroom, and/or online using a Learning
Management System)
- Provides the student with timely information and
feedback on his/her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework
and projects
- Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of student academic
and attendance performance
- Possesses a thorough knowledge and understanding of all
College policies, and actively participate in their implementation and
enforcement
- Follows all retention policies of the College to ensure
students are in attendance
- Performs
other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- Must be a Certified Professional Coder Instructor
(CPC-I) with the AAPC
- Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical
Coding Specialist in the field
- Minimum of three years of teaching or related field experience
- Demonstrated experience managing key metrics
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population
