About the Role
We are seeking a talented Freelance Documentary Film Editor. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for storytelling and a deep understanding of the documentary genre. You will be working on two documentary films, each approximately 15-20 minutes in length, helping to bring compelling stories to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit and assemble footage into a cohesive and impactful documentary film.
- Collaborate closely with the director and production team to understand and achieve the desired narrative.
- Apply creative editing techniques to enhance storytelling and emotional impact.
- Ensure a seamless flow of the narrative, paying close attention to pacing and rhythm.
- Manage and organize all post-production elements, including footage, sound, and graphics.
- Provide regular updates and present edited drafts for review and feedback.
- Incorporate feedback and revisions promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain a high standard of quality and attention to detail throughout the editing process.
Requirements
- Proven experience in film editing, specifically in documentary filmmaking.
- Proficiency in editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X).
- Strong storytelling skills with an ability to convey messages and emotions effectively.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- A portfolio showcasing previous documentary editing work.
